what's in my bag? // travelling or city shopping

Friday, February 28, 2014
I've been meaning to do a What's in My Bag? post for such a long time! I just finished watching about five videos of them on youtube and thought I would finally do one myself. This is the perfect example of what would be in my handbag if I were travelling to Brisbane, shopping or just generally out and about for the day:

1. Spare bag strap. My bag is by Peeptoe and it came with an alternative strap which has been very useful, especially when I've taken this bag out with me shopping or to the city. The chain strap is beautiful but it can be very uncomfortable after a while so I like to switch it up every now and again // 2. Body Shop All-in-One powder compact is the perfect size for a handbag and is ideal for touch-ups throughout the day // 3. Iphone! Definitely gonna need that... (mine's a little beaten up as you can see!) // 4. Eyebrow pencil for ya know... fixing up those stubborn ole' brows // 5. Hurraw! lipbalm is incredible and I love it // 6. Cherry blossom perfume for the Body Shop, smells lovely and is a nice, convenient size // 7. My wallet is by Olga Berg I think. It's quite a good size and fits all of my receipts and cards and things however I need to buy a new wallet soon - this one is starting to show signs of wear! //

8. A notebook or journal. If I'm travelling (on a bus especially), it can be so nice to just sit and write whilst listening to music. I always like keeping something to write things in with me all the time // 9. A pocket purse for my important cards and coins // 10. Snack food! // 11. Pain killers - headaches or car-sickness episodes are pretty unpredictable so it's always nice to have it on hand // 12. Earphones - to block out the noise on the bus, car or train and relax a little // 13. My 2014 planner or diary. Super handy for making appointments, checking dates and schedules etc. //

P.S: I usually also have a water bottle and a pen in my bag, but they're not pictured. What's in your bag? Do you like travelling light or are you a fan of having all the essentials? Anyway, I'm off to do a solid school work session. I'm home sick today with horrid back pain and cramps. I've relaxed a little this morning so I'm ready to charge through some English, History and SOR. Wish me luck! xo

magical world

With fairy-like complexions, pastels dresses, tiaras fit for a princess and twinkling lights illuminating the room, the models for Louis Vuitton S/S 2012 emerged. The carousel started to turn; the placid, white horses, seeming almost like a scene from a fantasy tale.

I haven't always been an ecstatic fan of Louis Vuitton. I'm not entirely into bold geometric prints and repetitive brand symbols but I really liked the S/S 2012 collection. It was just so beautiful. The carousel, pastel coloured frocks and twinkling fairy lights instantly won me over. Floaty dresses in shades of sky blue, snow white and buttery yellow were accompanied by tiaras, strappy shoes and classic make-up. I guess the fact that I’m a fairy-tale loving, floral-wearing and all-things-girly type, the love for this collection was a given. You can look at the full collection via Style Bistro. I just love these pictures of this carousel!

The weekend has started off quite nicely and although I'm exhausted from a hectic week, I feel relaxed. I'm reading Tuck Everlasting at the moment. A lovely story written by Natalie Babbit. In a nutshell, it is a beautifully written tale of the Tuck's, a family who unknowingly drink from a spring that provides them with eternal life. Determined to keep this water a secret because of the dangers and disruption to the cycle of life it would cause, they live a life of secrecy. This is until Winnie Foster, a young girl stumbles across the spring and is curious to know why she isn't allowed to drink it. The Tucks' secret is eventually told and it is up to Winnie to protect it. One of my favourite stories of all time!

october inspiration

Monday, October 03, 2011

I can't believe it's October already! At the moment (well, actually for a while now), Bonnie Barton's blog, Flashes of Style has been a huge inspiration. I just love her outfits. Effortless perfection is the only way to describe her style. The above picture is one of my favourites. I love the way she cleverly mixed different textures to create a not-to-girly-but-still-feminine outfit.

This Arabella Ramsay collection is so precious. Mixed patterns, polka dots, denim and mismatched knits are the way to go. The collection you would want to take credit for.

Satchel bags! These brightly coloured accessories are the perfect solution to sprucing up a plain outfit. I love the blue one, it would go perfectly with a simple white sun dress.

Sorry for the initial absence, I have been busily getting ready for school again and I just got back from an intense ballet class and every morsel of strength left in my body has disappeared. I'm pretty sure I did about a trillion chaines across the studio and all I need now is a bubble bath, my Anne of Green Gables novel and a good night sleep! Happy Monday!

there's something about wednesdays...

Roman Holiday

I quite like this palette, you wouldn't think that a bright purple leather bag and tan heals would end up in the same outfit but it looks surprisingly lovely. This collage has a certain 'holiday in a foreign country' feel to it. It reminded me of Roman Holiday (starring fashion icon Audrey Hepburn). Who doesn't dream of whisping through the ancient city on a white vespa?
I am very excited about the Teen Vogue issue I will recieve next week, it's so exciting. The articles shown in the index on the website looked pretty intriguing! I'm also looking forward to getting a gorgeous boater hat with a black rim from a dear friend, and along with that comes a gorgeous issue of Frankie. Quirky magazines have a quirky effect on the reader.
School was great today! It was made up of giggles, chocolate muffins, dishevelled teachers and surprise party planning for a good friend. And I can't forget the scheming and plotting with the lovely Izzy Rose* to attract the new boys' attention (hehe). There's something about Wednesdays... xo
*don't forget to check out her new post, the new top she got from America is too pretty!

how to find: The Perfect Handbag

Thursday, September 30, 2010
Shopping for a reliable handbag that you want to go with everything can be a complex process. But here are a few useful tips that will help you find the perfect handbag:
  • Stick with multi-functional colors like white, cream, tan and black.
  • Before you go shopping decide what you want in terms of size, pockets, fabric and shape, or if you want any particular design.
  • If you don't have at least a vague idea of what you want to purchase, this could create serious problems. You could get carried away in your favorite bag shop and end up buying something totally different to what you actually need. (known from experience)
  • Found the perfect bag? Before you buy it, make sure you actually try it first. Get in front of a mirror and see if it suits you.
  • Most of all, will it comfortable on your arm or shoulder for long periods of time?
I have included some pictures of Chanel handbags. These are the kind off luxe bags that could get you carried away:
