my latest bookish desire!

Lauren Conrad has so far written 3 books for the L.A Candy series and a non-fiction book for those trying to find there inner-fashion sense. The book series is all about the sweet life; designer clothes, amazingly good-looking boys and working in top fashion magazines. Definately for fans of Gossip Girl and (obviously) The Hills. Photo from We Heart It, yet again.

tutus and silky shoes

I've always loved ballet and how pretty the tutus and shoes are, but after accidently watching the trailer to The Black Swan, I was kind of put off anything to do with it. Fortunately, I have finally gotten over the fact that the trailer was terrifying and remembered that its just a movie.
Anyway, I love ballet-inspired fashion with chiffon, silk ribbons and puffy skirts. The pretty body suit at the top is made of rouched white chiffon, how lovely! The outfit at the bottom is definitely something I would wear, maybe in a purple or dusky pink though. Got any favourite ballet-inspired clothing pieces?
P.S: All images thanks to We Heart It.
P.P.S: Keep up to date with Avenue M as there is a give-away coming up. Keep you posted!

d&g floral fever

Thursday, March 17, 2011

The new D&G campaign is actually amazing, its pretty obvious how much I'm obsessed with florals, and how much I think you can wear florals in every season! It is possible, floral trench coats and flowery pantihose in Winter, cute florally jackets and dresses in Autumn, floral bikinis and sun dresses in Summer and Spring (self-explanatory, anything floral is appropriate). Anyway, apologies for the lack of blog posts of late, so busy with zillions of assignments that I still haven't done.

Pearls in China

Monday, March 14, 2011

I haven't been too busy with homework or school dramas lately, so i figure, why not take advantage of it and use up my free time blogging! I dug up a few of my favorite jewellery pieces, consisting of pink faux pearls, a blue beaded bracelet, a diamonte ring, a locket and a butterfly ring. All of these peices weren't exactly that expensive, but all hold a special meaning to me. I can wear that silver ring with anything, those pearls and butterfly ring with most of my pink dresses or tops, the blue bracelet as an added extra to de-boring-ify (is that a word?) a pair of jeans and a t-shirt and the simple flower locket to jazz up a plain white singlet.
I don't buy much jewellery, in fact, 90% of all the pieces here, are things that have been given to me. The pearls from Mum along with the butterfly ring, the diamonte ring is from my sister, and the locket from my other sister and I bought the blue bracelet from the markets for $3.
Bored? Rummage through your old jewellery boxes and make an effort to wear more jewellery with your outfits. It's amazing what you can find and how it can transform an outfit!
Don't have enough? Hit the markets! So much to choose from and so little money needed!
p.s: I borrowed those cups form my Mum's sacred China Cabinet, lucky she doesn't have blogger! Anyway, I think the jewellry looks quite lovely in those cups, I shall keep them until she realises they are gone...

How to: Land a Career in Fashion

Sunday, March 13, 2011

Open on my favorite section! (Note my gorgeous new bedspread, I LOVE it!)

Classified as my favorite fashion resource in my fashion book collection, the Teen Vogue handbook does not disappoint. With priceless information for the budding fashionista, it includes everything you need to know on how to make it big in the wonderful world of fashion. This book was written by the talented folk who bring you the Teen Vogue publication every month. (Hopefully one day I will be a part of that group!)
Inside the glossy cover is a collage of all the Teen Vogues ever made, the table of contents and dozens of frequently asked questions, articles and interviews with famous designers, magazine editors, models, photographers and make-up artists.

My favorite sections, The Teen Queen--Amy Astley (chapter 2, page 64) appeals to me the most because I want to work in a fashion magazines like Teen Vogue, Bazaar or Vogue. This section features the lowdown on internships, assistants and what its like to be an editor. It's straight to the point--no ifs, buts or maybes.
In conclusion, if you want to have a career in fashion or know someone who does, I highly recommend this book!

Lady likings

Thursday, March 10, 2011

I finally have some gloves! My darling Grandma gave them to me. They are so lovely! She wore them to church and special occasions when she was young and gloves were just another part of the attire. I wish I could say the same for the 21st century! Anyway, I did take a few photos for a sneaky peek for my lovely, fellow bloggers!

Her latest photo shoot success in Vogue Australia's April edition.
Codie Young graduated from high school last year, with her career already a phenominal success. She has already landed a Vogue Australia cover, numerous photoshoots with top fashion magazines and several contracts with the worlds top designers. She hasn't even turned 18 yet.

Valentino

Thursday, March 03, 2011

I'm absolutely in love with these Valentino dresses! After going to see the Retrospective at the GOMA, I havent forgotten how amazing they are! My favorite part of each collection though, is the shoes! The top ones are my favorite of all time. They are so dainty and lovely and would enchant any old dress! Its a pity that they're $2,500 over my budget!
