Top c/o Choies

Long time, no see! It's officially Spring here in Australia and in between assignments and exam study (that's the reason I've been so absent lately, just so you know), I've been enjoying the beautiful, sunny weather. Can't you just see the colours in these pictures?! Oh gosh, I'm so excited. And how beautiful is this blouse? It's such a spring staple and will look great with just about anything in my wardrobe.
Speaking of spring wardrobe things, I've been eyeing off quite a few new accessories for the sun too. These sunglasses from Bonlook have the perfect vintage touch, don't you think? Perfect for wearing with a red lip and a head scarf. Yes, that's right, I'm imagining myself as Audrey Hepburn cruising down the highway.

I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend! I sure am! :)

august 2013 // favourites

Thursday, August 22, 2013
Can you believe August has nearly come to an end? This year is going way to fast and I'm trying to keep up and it's just not happening. This week has been very busy so far with assignments, driving lessons and work. I'm trying to remain sane by finding the time to blog, read and relax with tea but it's really hard and I end up feeling guilty about it. What I need is a day dedicated to no school work and pampering for my girls. Anyway, here's a little post about a few of my favourites from this month.

Burts Bees 100% Natural Lip Gloss: This new range of lip gloss from one of my favourite beauty brands is amazing! The colours are really beautiful and the formula itself is the perfect amount of shimmer and pigment to give your lips a refreshed look. I like applying this over my 'Raspberry Pie' lip butter or my Max Factor lipstick in 'English Rose'.

Rimmel blush in 'Pink Rose': This is my favourite 'drugstore' blush. It's very soft and easy to blend. The colour is also very subtle and pretty. The only con to this product, however, is the packaging. It's very fiddly and the plastic is poor quality so the cover breaks off easily. All in all though, this is a wonderful product for the price you pay!

Covergirl Stay Brilliant nail varnish in 'Midnight Magic': I really like these Covergirl nail polishes. They have excellent staying power, great coverage and the colour range is beautiful! This colour looks stunning against any skin tone.

Frankie magazine #55: You guys all know how much I adore this magazine. The latest issue is no exception; the cover is absolutely beautiful and behind it is plenty of thought-provoking articles, awesome things to add to your wishlist and the (bonus!) pull out poster calender for your wall. Yay! Frankie is ideal for lazy Sunday afternoons in the sun with a white tea.

Oasap Candy satchel: The whole 'jelly' trend through me off guard slightly and I wanted to ease into it. I wasn't sure if I really wanted to revisit the 'jelly shoes' phase because I will never forget wearing the blasted shoes when I was about five and coming home with blisters and sweaty feet (yes, I know, lovely). Do you have a pair? Are they bearable? This bag is perfect if you'd like to keep up with the time without enduring blisters or sweaty feet syndrome. It's so darn cute and it has sparkles. Enough said.

Like I Give a Frock by Mitchie Girl: I honestly can't decide what I like most about this book... perhaps it's the awesome watercolour illustrations or maybe it's the random, witty fashion advice that makes it's easy to flick to any page and learn something new. A perfect read for bus trips.

Eek! This is my favourite morning smoothie. It's strawberry, banana, kiwi, ice and yoghurt and berry berocca to kick start the morning and keep me full for longer.

Dress c/o BeBop clothing, gifted boater hat, Kmart platforms, bag c/o Chicnova, Max Factor lipstick in 'English Rose'

Happy Monday everyone! Hopefully the start to your week was excellent! Today I decided to style up this dress from BeBop with this gorgeous, vintage kiss-lock bag from ChicNova. I was really surprised with the quality of the bag as many of the bags I have received from similar online stores are pretty but aren't the most wonderful quality. This one, however, is an exception! The leather is really soft and it's the perfect size for shopping or taking to school during exam time when I don't need anything too big. This dress has also been a great addition to my wardrobe. It's light, very cute and girlie and will be perfect for the summer time. I think it's still available here if you'd like to take a closer peek. :)

Can you notice the colour in the photos?! Oh my gosh, I feel like Spring is already upon us! The weather has been absolutely beautiful lately - I'm not a beach person and I have been dying to go have a swim. I'm so excited for the warm change, I've had enough of winter and I think my skin has too (ugh, does anyone else deal with annoying dry patches?!).
I hope you have a great week and I'll talk to you all soon! Lots of love xo

Spring is just around the corner and I'm loving every minute of the warm change.

I know these "flowers" (let's just go with flowers...) are weeds but they're so darn pretty! They create the prettiest bokeh in photos and the afternoon sun illuminates them, adding a little magic to my photos. I really liked this outfit post... the lighting was so dreamy!

The school dress up day I was talking about was an absolutely blast! My friend Sarah and I went as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz, lovely Belle (pictured in the first photo) went as Velma from Scooby Doo and Chloe (in the second picture with Sarah) looked absolutely gorgeous in her Minnie Mouse costume!

Looking through pretty cards and sorting stationery for when I find the time to send nice letters and notes to my blogging friends. If you'd like to exchange a card (or two!), email me here: avenuemblog@gmail.com

Just a quick little post for you all to update you on what's been happening lately. I hope you're all well and enjoy the rest of your weekend xo

Dress c/o BeBop clothing, bag c/o Oasap, Rubi shoes, Australis lipstick in 'Cha Cha', Forever New pearl bracelets

There's nothing more versatile than a striped dress for all year 'round. This one in particular was sent to me by the ladies at BeBop Clothing (I was offered the opportunity to review two dresses from their brand and I jumped at the chance) and I am so excited about it! It's light, comfortable and really well made. The packaging they sent it to me in was really adorable too - both dresses came quickly and in a gorgeous canvas bag with the a pretty drawing on the front. Score! New bag for library stops! Speaking of library stops, I'm re-reading the Harry Potter series and I'm addicted. This series is genius and I love it.

I hope you're all having a great week so far. Tomorrow is my school's annual dress-up day and (big surprise!) I'm going as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz... one of my favourite fictional characters. I'll take lots of pictures so you guys can see. Lots of love xo
P.S: I really appreciate all of you. Each and every person who reads my blog is a good friend in my eyes and I hope you realise that. Without you, Avenue M wouldn't be what it is today so, thank you.

my bedroom // three tips for a decoration facelift

Tuesday, August 13, 2013
Hey lovelies! I haven't done one of these posts in ages so I thought it would be fun to revisit the "decorating and storage ideas" post that was really popular (one of the pictures from that post has even got 20K notes on tumblr, what!). My room has changed a lot since January and although it's not quite ready for a full room tour (I'm still sorting out bed issues), I thought I'd share with you a few decorating tips to give your bedroom a snazzy little facelift.

1. Wooden hangers. There is something so classic and polished about them that really complete the overall look of a wardrobe, you would be amazed at the difference it makes. I've only got about ten wooden hangers but my goal is to have all of my clothes displayed on the wooden beauties. So much prettier than those flimsy plastic things.

 2. My jewellery cabinet was getting a little out of control so I decided to display some of my statement pieces as a decoration. Izzy's Mum gave me these jewellery hangers a few months ago and they have been so handy! The colours of all the necklaces and accessories really add to my bedroom for a positive, colourful vibe and accentuate the colours in my wardrobe.

3. Probably my favourite DIY project yet. I printed out all of my favourite instagram shots at Big W (only costed about 10c per photo) and hung them on a string above my bed. Adds instant colour to any bedroom and it's a constant reminder of happy days, beautiful moments and inspiration that otherwise would have been forgotten.

I hope you enjoyed this post and you're having a splendid week so far. Lots of love xo

Temt dress, Oasap necklace and bag, Kmart shoes

"You are the books you read the films you watch, the music you listen to, the people you meet, the dreams you have, the conversations you engage in. You are what you take from these. You are the sound of the ocean, the breath of fresh air, the brightest light and the darkest corner. You are a collective of every experience you have had in your life. You are every single second of every single day. So drown yourself in a sea of knowledge and existence. Let the words run through your veins and let the colours fill your mind."
— Unknown

This quote is a favourite of mine. I hope you had a wonderful week and an even blissful weekend. This weekend is pretty busy for me; I have a driving lesson tomorrow, seeing a movie on Sunday, shopping for a costume for my school's annual dress-up day and *attempting* to finish lots of homework. xo

Temt dress, Colette necklace, Betts shoes, Mulberry-inspired satchel, Vogue eyewear sunglasses

Happy Monday! Hopefully you are having a wonderful start to the week! I used to hate Mondays, but I don't mind them as much any more - the sting of a new week is eased slightly by having such good subjects. My weekend was crazy! On Saturday, my sisters and Mum and I went shopping and I decided to blow half of my work pay on two new dresses, a vintage inspired tea flask from Typo, a new magazine and a cute sweater top. I went into Temt (guys... this store is just... so good) and tried on two dresses that I couldn't decide on, so I decided to buy both. This one I'm wearing here is my 'Twiggy' dress. It's such a pretty little shift and I love the beautiful quality and colour of the fabric.
Saturday night was a blast too; I went out to dinner with some old and new friends to celebrate a sweet 16. We walked along the Esplanade and then had some cake in the hotel room. Yesterday Lily came over and we did multiple (hilarious!) challenges and you can watch my video here and the chubby bunny challenge here
Have you bought anything pretty lately? Please tell me! I'd love to know :) Lots of love xo
