Oasap top and bag, Kmart skirt, Forever New belt and earrings, Rubi shoes

Greetings internet! How are you all? Things in my life have improved considerably since the stress and exhaustion at the start of the week. I've been pretty sick and aside from the soccer triumph, have been feeling beyond lousy and less than motivated. It's definitely been a test of whether or not I can pick myself up and dust off and I think I've done okay. The afternoon walks, earlier bed times (and reading instead of phone usage at night) has definitely helped and I'm starting to feel less overwhelmed, exhausted and sad. Mood swings are so weird; one minute you feel as though your whole world has swallowed you whole and then next minute, you feel as though you're on top of the world.
Today's outfit is something I think I will wear to the university Open Day I'll be attending in the next few weeks. Next year's ambitions of moving away to study are becoming a reality and I've started planning ahead and hopefully I'll be certain on a course soon. I liked the way this outfit made me feel; well-dressed, well educated and as if I have my life in control. Unfortunately I still haven't reached the latter stage yet as I still feel like a lost, naive sheep on their first day of school, but hey! There's still time.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your week xo

Temt sweater, Boohoo skirt

I was trying to come up with a witty and clever title for this post... and "Coral Floral" and "Spode Mode" came into the conversation with Izzy (whom is sitting directly across from me) and after a fair bit of laughter at how lame those titles sounded, I finally came up with a title that relates to this post (because I am perched precariously on a fence...) and also my life: Fence Sitter. That is my philosophical contribution to the world for today. Thank you.
Today was spent at my friend Belle's house; we baked cupcakes whilst reminiscing about high school life (we thought it was appropriate considering we finish in just over four months!), talking about boys, watching High School Musical (see a pattern here?), danced around in heels and then took some pretty photos in the afternoon light. One of my favourite things about the holidays is spontaneous catch-ups with my close friends; it seems to ease the sting of returning to school in a matter of days considerably.
I was wearing a very Wintry/ Spring outfit in my friend Belle's field! This lovely skirt is from Boohoo and the sweater was an emergency borrow from Belle's closet due to the single digit temperatures (not really single digit, but definitely felt like it!).
I hope you all enjoy the remainder of the week - I go back to school in five days and it's Term 3, which is otherwise known as "the killer", "the term from hell", and... THE ONE THAT BREAKS YOU. Don't worry, it won't break me. I'm a strong, independent white woman that can juggle her academic life with her social life perfectly.*

lady lavender // winter & spring staples part 2

Millers white top, Asos skirt (it's on sale, boo-yar!), Kmart shoes, thrifted bag, Rubi sunglasses

Despite Winter being my favourite season weather-wise, I love to dress for the Spring time (I guess it's lucky I live in such a warm climate!), so when this beautiful lavender skirt arrived today from Asos, I couldn't resist concocting a pretty pastel outfit. I paired it with a white top from Millers, which I really love because they've put a funky (did I actually just use that word...?) and interesting twist on the plain white tee by adding texture, and a light blue belt. White t-shirts are one of my favourite Spring staples because they go with absolutely everything.
How has your week been so far? I have to admit, my holidays have been relatively mundane and I'm suffering from cabin-fever. I've cleaned my room to the point where it cannot get any cleaner, I've done so much house-work I may as well be refer to as 'Maria the Maid' and I'm basically going insane. Today I was in an absolutely atrocious mood so I went for long, intense run in the freezing cold, came home and had a refreshing shower (in which I sung to Iggy Azalea, word for word) and now I'm typing this with a bowl of fruit, nuts and 75% cocoa dark chocolate next to my laptop. Things will be okay. Also, if you're interested in buying any of my clothes, check out the listing here! A few of my dresses are either too big or too short for me now and most of it is $10, and all in great condition.

P.S: Shout out to my neighbours who are selling horse poop for the low, low price of $1, in case you didn't notice in my photos...
P.P.S: Shout out to my Aunty and Uncle for providing the chocolate. If you're reading this, THANK YOU.

The weather today didn't have to much of a cold bite so I decided to take advantage of it and take photos in this beautiful dress that I picked up from a garage sale my friend Sarah-Jane held at the weekend. It's now claimed the title of "Most Princess-y" dress in my wardrobe and I can't wait to see how versatile it will be during both the Summer and Winter. Light blue is not a colour I wear often either, however it's incredibly pretty and serene and definitely a shade I'll consider for prom/ formal at the end of Year 12 in November.

The last few days have been quite busy; last week I went away on another retreat/school camp and it was really fantastic! I can't quite compare it to Fraser Island because both trips were so different and so good, but nonetheless I enjoyed myself and had a grand time hanging out and mucking around with my friends (whom the majority I won't see very often after six months!). School work is picking up pace rapidly and I'm going a little insane... at the moment it's the good kind of stress that's motivating me to do school work and I'm hoping to keep it that way for as long as possible. Wish me luck...

Lee Cooper denim jacket (only $35! Woohoo for affordable denim jackets!), Kmart skirt, Sussan top, Oasap bag, Rubi shoes, scarf and sunglasses

Hello! Guess what today is?! On this day in 2010, I started my blog and wrote my first blog post! It's been four years since I started blogging and it's been one of the most rewarding and exciting aspects of my life! I just had to share that :)
Isn't the light in these photos simply gorgeous? Aside from the cool change and the beautiful colours in photos, Autumn is one of my favourite seasons because I get to wear scarves, stockings and boot style shoes. It's always nice to get rugged up and cosy and I thought this mustard yellow scarf and the pink bag worked wonderfully together for an Autumnal palette. How have you been embracing the weather where you are?

This week has been quite good so far; on Monday my friend Anna and I went to a cafe in the afternoon to embrace our ritualistic "ease the sting of the Monday blues" as well as celebrate our awesome English results. I think it's important to celebrate if you get good grades in something you worked really hard for - especially in senior year. Without celebration, it can be hard to stay motivated and continue doing well. I'm really proud of my friends actually, we're all doing really well in our subjects so far this year!
Anyway, I hope you're all having a lovely week. I'll be back again soon - I have to finish off my History research task and pack for Year 12 retreat.

NYC

Ally jeans, thrifted NYC tee, Myer scarf, Kmart shoes, thrifted bag

Today was a lovely (but cold) Autumn day that consisted of a nice outing to Husk and Honey with Abbey (in which we indulged in carrot cake, fruit salad and bitter coffee) after an interesting (and competitive) night of card games with Patty and Jack, lots of geography and maths homework, wearing layers of warm clothing and recovering from the festivities of the last two days. I joined the school gym on Thursday and as out of character as it was for me, I had fun and I think I'll make it a regular thing. Going for walks/ runs around your neighbourhood can get a little mundane after a while. The gym was good, but then the next day we had cross country and man, I'm so sore. I've never done so much physical activity in the space of 24 hours before. I feel great though - my body is just a bit confused... "Maria, what the hell are you doing?!" Cross country was really fun though; the weather was overcast and mild and after our race, we just relaxed on the beach for the rest of the day.

I hope you're all having a nice weekend... I'm currently in love with this songthis dress, this quote and this collection of home made winter drinks. xo

cast no shadow

Hi. Hello! Not sure where to start, so here's what's on my mind...
  • The day before yesterday we (my sister's and I) became friends with our neighbours because a fire broke out in their yard and they needed help sorting it out. Isn't that a funny way to start a friendship? Anyway, I became friends with their pets too, and I even went exploring to the beautiful hidden lake behind this field. Going to places like this makes me miss my Nana and her farm so much. I've been feeling really sad about her death lately and going to this property made me feel incredibly nostalgic for her presence and her stories and just, her. I feel like I didn't spend enough time with her and I just miss her a lot. I wish she would just come back down from heaven for even just a day so she can tell me some stories and so I can ask her advice etc. Thinking about her makes me so proud to be part of this family. I just wish that she was here and she could see how much I've grown up, and I want to make her proud.
  • This dress is so pretty and I love the way it looks against the sunlight/ green meadows etc. Autumn is as beautiful as ever.
  • Year 12 has been quite good; although my coughing and sneezing attacks are still lingering persistently and no amount of tissues seem to be helping. But it's going well; I've been hanging out with my friends as much as I can before school work gets intense, and tomorrow night is the school's annual 'Theatresports' competition. It's absolutely hilarious, and although Lauren and I are going to that event straight after the gym (I am going to be DEAD), it'll be plenty of fun!
  • Oasis has been resurrected from the depths of my music folders! Man, it's good. I was having epic O.C marathons in the school holidays and hearing 'Champagne Supernova' and 'Wonderwall' was like a step back in time.
  • I've been using my Modcloth Style Gallery account a lot more lately! Check it out here.
  • White tea w/ honey and banana on toast with cinnamon has been the default breakfast lately.
  • Tomorrow is May, one of the purtiest months on the calender! Two of my closest girls are celebrating 17 years of niftiness this month.
  • I'm good. That's good. We're all good. Which is good.
I hope you're all having a nice week so far - happy Wednesday! Only two more days until the weekend! You can do it!

P.S: If you know what album from Oasis the title of this post came from off the top of your head...  let's be the best of fans now!
