Happy Saturday // Everyday Makeup video

Saturday, March 22, 2014

Happy Saturday, folks! Just a quick little post for tonight. I filmed a new make-up video today because I was sick of researching Australian settlement and desperately needed a break. And now, I'm off to watch one of my favourite movies - Nancy Drew with Emma Roberts - make a hot chocolate with cinnamon and marshmallows and dive into my bed. Me time is important, even though my workload is nearly up to the ceiling ;) Good night. Enjoy the rest of your weekend! xo

Ally blouse, Kmart skirt (it was $5, oh my gosh!), Kmart shoes, thrifted bag, Portmans belt

Fun fact for today: Joan Holloway (from Mad Men) and I share the same birthday (February 24th) and I feel like a starlet from the 50s in this gorgeous skirt. I can't actually decide what I like about it the most; the fact that it was less than a tall coffee from your average cafe or perhaps it's the umbrella shape that is perfect for waist definition.
Also, I wanted to let you know that I'm currently preparing for the assessment weeks that are just around the corner. I'm a little uptight - alright, a lot - and have managed to beat my "exam-block-stress-meltdown" count, which is quite the achievement. So far this week, I've had a cry over just about everything, every day. I even cried because we ran out of bread. Yep, it's that time of term again where I temporarily enter the "more insane than I already am" stage. It's okay, only a few more weeks to go! I can do this! Year 12 is a breeze! Yeah...
I hope you're all having a lovely week, tomorrow is Friday, yay! xo

Recognise this outfit? I wanted to put forth a question for all of you personal style bloggers out there: Do you ever shoot an outfit at more than one location and can't choose which place you like best? I can't be the only one! This outfit looked really pretty up against the wooden fence, so I had to share the contrast. ♥

Hey guys! It's been over a week since my last post (shocking, I know!), and you can blame that entirely on school work. I took a bit of time out today though because I felt like making a video (it's been a while) and despite the fact that I am still the most awkward, ineloquent vlogger in the universe, I hope you enjoy the video none the less! The products I talked about have seriously been serving me well lately so I had to share. I linked a few of them in the description box of the video. Enjoy!
And p.s: Would you like another Roaccutane update? I was going through my old videos today too and I cannot believe the difference seven months makes on treatment. It's especially obvious if you compare this video to the one I made today.

everyday makeup // innocent as a rose

Thursday, March 06, 2014

In the true spirit of Spring for my lovely Northern Hemisphere readers, I thought I'd conjure up a little make-up look using roses as the inspiration. As I've said in my previous beauty posts, it's been so much easier for me to experiment with make-up because of the improvement in my skin (I finish Roaccutane in April by the way, so exciting!) and using less of it is always nice too. Much more fresh looking, if you ask me! For this look, it was quite simple. I started off with the usual Nearly Naked foundation by Revlon (which you've heard me rave about constantly!), set it with light powder and applied a light rose-coloured blush to my cheeks.

Before applying lipstick, I used the Lush bubblegum lip scrub (Izzy gave it to me for my birthday and I love it!) and followed with a moisturising lip balm before applying the Revlon lipbutter in Raspberry Pie. I only used a tiny bit though, so it appears as more of a tint. Then I filled in my brows lightly with the trusty old Australis pencil and as usual, the mascara that really gives my eyelashes the extra boost that they need! And that's all done! I hope you fabulous peeps are enjoying the warm change where you are and the plethora of flora that I'm sure is blooming. As for me, I'm more than ready for Winter. I can't wait to make use of that trench coat from my last post. It's far too beautiful to be hanging up in my closet for months on end.

Anyway, in the midst of completing assignments, plotting diagrams and using formulas to figure out the ruddy answer to a disjointed triangle - I've managed to keep on top of this blog. Senior year has set off at full speed ahead and as much as I'm loving every minute of being "old" and in "my last year of school EVER", I'm utterly and absolutely exhausted. Sometimes I don't know what I would do without my hobbies, because lately, they've been the only thing keeping me sane. Blogging, reading and drawing have saved my life this week.

I hope you all enjoyed this post... I'm going to spend the night listening to Billie Holiday (can a boy please take me out dancing to her songs please??), drink some tea and have a bubble bath with a Lush bathbomb. I think it's a spacegirl glitter one which I haven't used before, and I'm excited because you never know what to expect with those concoctions! Have a lovely day tomorrow, and the next day. And the day after that. xo

Thrifted top and skirt, Trade Secret coat, Oasap bag, Kmart shoes

Autumn is finally upon us Australians and although it may be a little early to bring out the trench, I thought I would anyway because this outfit couldn't be more perfect for a day out in the city during the cold snap. I'm very much looking forward to when I become a "grown-up" and days out in the city shopping, meeting up with friends and running business errands are a regular occurrence. Believe it or not but the top and skirt both costed me under $5 combined (yet another op-shop eureka!) and the trench coat was found on the "clearance" rack in Trade Secret. Sometimes a girl just gets lucky when she needs it most!

Unfortunately for my bank account my Autumn "essentials" list is creeping up again and I can't help but want a new pair of sunglasses (I've been eyeing off a pair in VOGUE), however the pricing is slightly steep for my student budget so I might flick over to Bonlook, Modcloth or Asos for something a little more affordable. Sunglasses shapes seem to be so fickle! When you finally bight the bullet and buy a super trendy shape - it's out of fashion the week after...
Anyway, I better cease the babbling on sartorial dilemmas and continue with my English Feature Article. Man, this assignment is driving me crazy. I've re-written it three times now and I'm still not happy with it! Hopefully a tea will help. Have a lovely week xo
