Lauren wears: Sheinside blouse, Ally shorts, Oasap bag,

Yay! Finally on holidays and free for two weeks! Despite having three school based projects to work on during the holidays, it's still going to do me so much good. I swear I need to catch up on sleep from the start of the year! Anyway, I received this pretty blouse from Sheinside a few weeks ago and was super disappointed that it didn't fit so I asked my friend Lauren if she's like to be on Avenue M! She said yes and was an absolute natural in front of the camera. The lighting was just beautiful and I'm so happy with how the photos turned out.
Today was so crazy! We spent the morning at the local nursing home handing out Easter eggs to the elderly, then headed uptown to buy a few things. It was so much fun! I can't wait to post more often over the next few weeks! xoxo

My outfit for the vintage fair // A delicious frappe from Starbucks // A few more pretty pictures from the fair // My two beautiful besties and I before the Year 10 dance last year

I'm on holidays in two days! Today I finally got around to editing the photos from last years dance and I am so pleased with how they turned out! It was such an amazing night and I loved looking back on all the photos and reminiscing about how marvellous it was. From left to right: Lauren, Sarah and I! I thought it was really cool how all of our dresses matched a little -- we do love our pastels ♥
The holidays are appraching quickly and I couldn't be more excited! Lots of blog posts, reading, cooking and posting off packages. Oh! And I'm also going for my license next week. I've been putting it off for too long (I turned 16 exactly a month ago today) and I should really hop to it.

Anyway, I was wondering if there was any posts you guys would like to see? A DIY? Day in the life? I'm not going to lie but all of this school work has bogged my brain and I'm finding it hard to come up with blog post ideas. I would love it if you could leave me a comment down below, tweet me or email me some ideas! Love you guys xo

kitten d'amour

Thursday, March 21, 2013

Whilst roaming the shops of Queen St. mall in Brisbane (wide eyed, mind you), we stumbled across one of the most spectacular and fanciful shops ever. It was a vintage lover's heaven! Kitten D'Amour was nestled near a the emporium and it was such an exciting discovery! The dresses were simply beautiful adorned with lots of lace, flowers and tulle and the girls who worked there was just wonderful! They told me that each item is handmade and on every garment there is a little tag that tells you want number it is out of a limited amount. How special! I decided to buy a pretty pocket watch with the Eiffel Tower on it as a souvenir and it was beautifully wrapped. I can't wait to go back again!

You can visit the beautiful site here and like their Facebook page here! Have a wonderful weekend!

Suzanne Grae top, thrifted skirt, Kmart shoes, Mulberry inspired bag

I've been looking everywhere for a breton stripe top (they're known to go with simply everything and add a certain Brigitte Bardot touch to any outfit FYI) and finally found it a few weeks ago at Suzanne Grae (the last place I was expecting). This one is so comfortable and perfect for pairing with jeans and skirts.
I wore this outfit on Sunday to a baptism and picnic. It was really lovely, and despite the weather being hot, this outfit was perfectly comfortable and suited to the occasion.

Anyway, this week is extremely busy; I have an assignment due almost every day and things have been quite hectic. It was nice going away for the weekend to take lots of photos that I could post throughout the week. :)
P.S: The winner of my Shabby Apple giveaway was Steph! I did tweet it on the day of the competition ending. Thanks for entering everyone and hopefully there'll be another giveaway sometime soon. xo

vintage adventures

Saturday, March 16, 2013

If you follow me on instagram (@avenuemaria by the way!), you may have had a clue in on the weekend trip my family and I had been planning! The vintage fair was back in town and I was absolutely jittery with excitement when my Mum said we were going as part of my sweet 16. I was in pure heaven as soon as I stepped shiny patent toe over the line separating the grass and the wooden floor of the exhibition area. There was so much stuff. I've never seen so much vintage in all my life! Fancy 50's head dresses, tulle petticoats galore, cat-eye sunglasses, embroidered purses and hundreds of sewing patterns. We spent about an hour roaming through the different stalls and (me) gazing wide-eyed at every sequinned, bejewelled and lace dress laid eyes on.
As much as I would've liked to blow my fortnights worth of savings on a vintage dress I decided against it... the vintage pieces were all beautiful to look at and appreciate but it was all so expensive so I left empty handed and decided to spend my money at Queen St. Mall (which I'll get to in the next post!).

Ah, it was so much fun! We are at the hotel right now and it's quite late so I am off to bed. I still have so much more to share over the next few days so stay tuned for that. I hope you are all having a lovely weekend! xo

featured in teen vogue magazine!

Friday, March 15, 2013

This is probably the highlight of my blogging journey - being featured in the magazine I've been reading since I was 12. I am so, so honoured and excited to be featured in the latest edition of Teen Vogue (page 28, to be exact), it seriously feels like a dream come true! A big thank you to my beautiful friends overseas who let me know about this amazing occurrence.
P.S: Isn't it such a coincidence that they put two best friends on the same page of a magazine they've both been loving since primary school?! Yep! That's Izzy! My best friend who's been featured plenty on this blog and whom I am quite sure you're all familiar with. Definitely the most exciting thing that's ever happened to the both of us! Thank you for all the support :)
P.P.S: I'm sorry things have been so quiet around here lately, I've been busy preparing for exam block. I am going away though, for the weekend to Brisbane for a shopping trip and a vintage fair! A big, fabulous post with lots of pictures will be up tomorrow night, so get excited! ♥
