vintage adventures

Saturday, March 16, 2013

If you follow me on instagram (@avenuemaria by the way!), you may have had a clue in on the weekend trip my family and I had been planning! The vintage fair was back in town and I was absolutely jittery with excitement when my Mum said we were going as part of my sweet 16. I was in pure heaven as soon as I stepped shiny patent toe over the line separating the grass and the wooden floor of the exhibition area. There was so much stuff. I've never seen so much vintage in all my life! Fancy 50's head dresses, tulle petticoats galore, cat-eye sunglasses, embroidered purses and hundreds of sewing patterns. We spent about an hour roaming through the different stalls and (me) gazing wide-eyed at every sequinned, bejewelled and lace dress laid eyes on.
As much as I would've liked to blow my fortnights worth of savings on a vintage dress I decided against it... the vintage pieces were all beautiful to look at and appreciate but it was all so expensive so I left empty handed and decided to spend my money at Queen St. Mall (which I'll get to in the next post!).

Ah, it was so much fun! We are at the hotel right now and it's quite late so I am off to bed. I still have so much more to share over the next few days so stay tuned for that. I hope you are all having a lovely weekend! xo

Ah, looks like a dream! You'd absolutely love WWII Weekend, it's amazing and filled with 1940s venders and hundreds if not thousands of vintage dresses.

What a treat! It seems like you had the most amazing day :) I envy you so much, we only have a handful of vintage shops here in Macedonia, let alone fairs, and the choice is rather poor. Did you get anything?

Ahhh I wish I'd run into you!!! Although maybe not because it was so hot in there that I became a sweaty red faced mess within minutes :P

There were SO MANY gorgeous things!!!! I wanted to buy everything, but the prices really were quite astronomic, I think you'd get better value on Etsy.

All of the photos you took are so lovely, even if things were expensive they were such a pleasure to look at :)

I think I might have died due to the sheer vintage overload!
I know what you mean about leaving empty handed - not that there wasn't anything awesome to buy but just not the right thing worth spending all your precious money on either!

That's one of the problems with vintage shops, everything is always so expensive. :'(

I probably would have caved and bought a pair of those cat eye glasses/sun glasses. I'm in love with all things 1950's! <3 <3

Glad you had a good day! xo

Oh my, I'm going crazy seeing these pictures! Having an "I WANT IT NOW"-rage!! I'm in love with anything vintage. I started a new project a few weeks ago, upcycling forgotten and unwanted vintage clothing into ooak pieces (via Etsy: http://luciafloresdesigndiary.blogspot.com
