Hi. Hello! Not sure where to start, so here's what's on my mind...
  • The day before yesterday we (my sister's and I) became friends with our neighbours because a fire broke out in their yard and they needed help sorting it out. Isn't that a funny way to start a friendship? Anyway, I became friends with their pets too, and I even went exploring to the beautiful hidden lake behind this field. Going to places like this makes me miss my Nana and her farm so much. I've been feeling really sad about her death lately and going to this property made me feel incredibly nostalgic for her presence and her stories and just, her. I feel like I didn't spend enough time with her and I just miss her a lot. I wish she would just come back down from heaven for even just a day so she can tell me some stories and so I can ask her advice etc. Thinking about her makes me so proud to be part of this family. I just wish that she was here and she could see how much I've grown up, and I want to make her proud.
  • This dress is so pretty and I love the way it looks against the sunlight/ green meadows etc. Autumn is as beautiful as ever.
  • Year 12 has been quite good; although my coughing and sneezing attacks are still lingering persistently and no amount of tissues seem to be helping. But it's going well; I've been hanging out with my friends as much as I can before school work gets intense, and tomorrow night is the school's annual 'Theatresports' competition. It's absolutely hilarious, and although Lauren and I are going to that event straight after the gym (I am going to be DEAD), it'll be plenty of fun!
  • Oasis has been resurrected from the depths of my music folders! Man, it's good. I was having epic O.C marathons in the school holidays and hearing 'Champagne Supernova' and 'Wonderwall' was like a step back in time.
  • I've been using my Modcloth Style Gallery account a lot more lately! Check it out here.
  • White tea w/ honey and banana on toast with cinnamon has been the default breakfast lately.
  • Tomorrow is May, one of the purtiest months on the calender! Two of my closest girls are celebrating 17 years of niftiness this month.
  • I'm good. That's good. We're all good. Which is good.
I hope you're all having a nice week so far - happy Wednesday! Only two more days until the weekend! You can do it!

P.S: If you know what album from Oasis the title of this post came from off the top of your head...  let's be the best of fans now!

(Wearing Dotti skirt & bag, thrifted heels and top, watch c/o Born Pretty

On Tuesday morning, after a fun-filled sleepover (complete with cheesy girlie rom-coms, popcorn and face masks) with Abbey, we both headed into town hoping to get lucky in the 'post Christmas' opshop central. It was highly successful! I came out with quite a few goodies; including the sweet bow shoes I am wearing in the photos above and the Audrey-esque spotted blouse. It's very light and paired with this skirt, made for a very vintage outfit. The weather has been a little unpredictable lately with temperatures soaring passed the "fry an egg on the street" limit, then plummetting back down again to the mid 20s. My wardrobe is such a mess during the summer! I never know what I might need. One day I'll be wearing the bare minimum - singlet and a pair of shorts - and the next day I will have a light sweater on. Jeez!

Husk & Honey. My favourite cafe on the Sunshine Coast.

After running out of my favourite perfume - Miss Dior Cherie - I was in a fluster, trying to find a suitable replacement until it could be restored on my perfume tray. Japanese Cherry Blossom from the Body Shop is such a fresh, feminine fragrance (little bit of unintentional alliteration there... haha!) and it's definitely worth looking into if you're after something for every day. Also, I received this mint green watch from Born Pretty, and it's been the perfect Summer essential - adding a pop of colour to many of my outfits. I was a little worried that the quality would be poor because many of the jewellery items I have received for review have been a little disappointing, but this watch is great! It was packaged beautifully - in a gift box - and it's a gorgeous statement piece. The silicone wristband can be a little uncomfortable though, so if you're looking for something to wear all the time, I probably wouldn't recommend it. If you are interested though, feel free to use the coupon code that was provided for you guys for my blog: MARIASC10

Enjoying the frivolity of not wearing school uniforms!

One of my favourite Lush products thus far! The popcorn and caramel lip scrub is delicious and is the perfect way to prime your lips before adding lipstick.

This watercolour painting was a gift to me from Ruby, an Australia artist with a flair for creating beautiful and dreamy paintings. This one is hanging in my bedroom and it fits in perfectly with my colour palette. You can check out the rest of her paintings here. (And whoops, I should probably take down that Frankie wall planner soon, November is over!)

Anyway, I will talk to you all soon, lovelies! I have a very special post lined up next, a little scary for me, but I think you'll like it. So stay tuned! xo

Suzanne Grae top, thrifted skirt, Kmart shoes, Mulberry inspired bag

I've been looking everywhere for a breton stripe top (they're known to go with simply everything and add a certain Brigitte Bardot touch to any outfit FYI) and finally found it a few weeks ago at Suzanne Grae (the last place I was expecting). This one is so comfortable and perfect for pairing with jeans and skirts.
I wore this outfit on Sunday to a baptism and picnic. It was really lovely, and despite the weather being hot, this outfit was perfectly comfortable and suited to the occasion.

Anyway, this week is extremely busy; I have an assignment due almost every day and things have been quite hectic. It was nice going away for the weekend to take lots of photos that I could post throughout the week. :)
P.S: The winner of my Shabby Apple giveaway was Steph! I did tweet it on the day of the competition ending. Thanks for entering everyone and hopefully there'll be another giveaway sometime soon. xo

quaint cafes and a darling friend (out & about)

Thursday, January 17, 2013

On Wednesday my sweet friend Abbey and I decided to spend the day taking in the beauty and hidden nooks and crannies in our local town. We headed out early, at precisely nine and went straight for my favourite op-shop, the 'Smiley' opshop where I picked up a few pretty trinkets (which, if you follow me on instagram, you would've seen already hehe)! After that we headed to the most charming café ever, called Husk and Honey. It's relatively new here and many have said wonderful things about the vast array of gluten and grain free menu items. We both ordered a delicious free salad with natural yoghurt, honey, macadamias and these strange (but delicious!) red berries that might have been goji berries, but I can't be sure. Then for drinks she ordered a latte and I ordered a hot chocolate. After chatting away and taking pretty pictures of our food we headed to a gorgeous new boutique next door to the cafe called My Secret Sister's Wardrobe.

Oh my gosh. It is the most precious little shop ever! The decorating is so gorgeous and the girls who run it are super friendly and let me take pictures. It was a little mixture of vintage dresses and new things and Abbey and I were finding it hard to not blow our money on the pretty frocks and shoes! As you can see from the above pictures, they've decorated it very nicely... in a fresh, quirky way. I hope to drop in again soon. It was such a lovely day out and I really missed Abbey and it was lovely to catch up with her before school starts again ♥

I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far! I sure have, probably because I'm desperate to make the most of what's left of my holidays. Lots of love xoxo

Isn't she a pretty lady?
We even headed back there for afternoon tea! Iced chocolate, yum!
