Thrifted coat, skirt and heels, bag c/o Oasap, Forever New belt
I've been wanting to share this on my blog for a little while now but have been a little scared to. It's such a major insecurity of mine, but I'm finally going to have it fixed and I really want to share my journey with others. I don't want to talk too much about it now (I'm hopefully going to make a video on it soon), but acne is seriously one of the most horrible things a teenager can go through. I don't think anyone really understands how much it can effect one's self esteem unless they actually suffer from it. Over the next twelve months I'll be updating you about how the Roaccutane is working me and any improvements it has made. The main side effects I'm experiencing right now is itchy skin, nausea, dry lips and slight back pain. My dermatologist said that these will improve over time which is great to hear, and despite being quite annoying right now, I'm willing to be patient and let the medication do its work.
If any of you have any questions or have experienced acne in the past please leave a comment down below or email me here: avenuemblog@gmail.com. I'd love to hear about what you have to say and offer any advice and further information about the medication :) I hope the remainder of your week is just wonderful! xo

Wow, great work finding such amazing garments Maria, if only I was so lucky the other day while op shopping!
That's terrible to hear what your going through. I never had a severe problem with acne, but my face was never (and still isn't) crystal clear! It really does damage confidence. I will be crossing my fingers and toes that the treatment works for you! In regards to the horrible medication situation though, i can sympathize immensely. I take quite a few medications and at times the side effects are horrid!

That jacket is gorgeous, Jackie would approve! I would love to find something like this for winter too :D
Skin problems can be such a nightmare, I know only too well. I won't go into detail because it's personal, but I know how you feel. Hang in there :)
Hey Maria, your look is amazing, like you said, it's really "Jackie Kennedy"! And I also think that it's great that you confessed that, because sometimes it's difficult to talk about personal stuff on blogs and I think you said it with such confidence :)

Aw, good luck with your treatment. You are gorgeous <3
You have really pretty hair color! And I also love the tulle skirt - so delicate!
What a find with that jacket! <3 I do sympathise as well, my skin was awful when I was 16-18, it really really dented my self confidence. My friend was on Roaccutane at the time and I remember she always had chapped lips! I really hope it works for you lovely xxx
Ah yes, white gloves would be perfect for this outfit! jackie o is one of my greatest fashion inspirations, so of course I am in love with this look! What makes this outfit better is that it was all thrifted!

Oh that jacket is a dream! Everything about it is perfect on you and you styled it in such a fun, girly way. Very pretty :)
Hope your pain goes away quickly! Side effects from medication are always a nuisance because one has to think, "Is it better to have the original problem, or the symptoms of the medication?" Blessings to you and hoping you get things figured out soon!
That's a great little skirt! Works for spring or fall.

Such lovely garment choices Maria! I can see a resemblance to the wonderful Jackie Kennedy and yourself!
Take this advice from someone who has dealt with similar skin condition in the past, find your inner confidence and let it shine through your smile and attitude to life. You are full of talents and anyone who judges you based on your looks doesn't deserve your time. All the best on your journey you aren't alone precious darling!

I love the outfit! You always look so polished :) I don't have acne but a few of my friends have needed roaccutane and it messed them round a bit,but eventually it cleared up really well. Best of luck with it all :)
I love your outfit, it's very retro!
I think it's really brave of you to share your personal experience on your blog, hope you get better soon xx

This outfit is so lovely! Jackie Kennedy is such an amazing style inspiration!
Also, I completely know how you feel.I didn't have acne in high school, but as soon as I hit 20, it was all, hello pimples! Also, in high school (and now too) I have battle a skin condition that covered mostly my legs; I would never wear skirts or shorts ever. These things really can be hard, but remember that you are such a wonderful and beautiful person! I hope that your medication gets straightened out super soon!

Hi there! Came across your blog through another blogger, and I'm so glad! I love your sense of style! I also wanted to comment about the acne situation. I've had acne for as long as I can remember (probably since I was 10 or so, which would make it 14 years now). I'm not sure if that counts as cystic acne or not, but it is a major source of insecurity for me, as well. I did recently start something called the oil cleansing method (after going to the dermatologist years ago and not being pleased with the results, other than still being on the Pill for my skin). The verdict is still out on whether I like it long-term, though I liked it a lot when I first started, but time will tell. If it's something you might be interested in, here is a link to the blog on which I first saw the oil cleansing method: http://www.healthydiaries.com/2012/07/17/how-i-improved-my-skin-acne-scaring-overall-complexion/
