october inspiration

Monday, October 03, 2011

I can't believe it's October already! At the moment (well, actually for a while now), Bonnie Barton's blog, Flashes of Style has been a huge inspiration. I just love her outfits. Effortless perfection is the only way to describe her style. The above picture is one of my favourites. I love the way she cleverly mixed different textures to create a not-to-girly-but-still-feminine outfit.

This Arabella Ramsay collection is so precious. Mixed patterns, polka dots, denim and mismatched knits are the way to go. The collection you would want to take credit for.

Satchel bags! These brightly coloured accessories are the perfect solution to sprucing up a plain outfit. I love the blue one, it would go perfectly with a simple white sun dress.

Sorry for the initial absence, I have been busily getting ready for school again and I just got back from an intense ballet class and every morsel of strength left in my body has disappeared. I'm pretty sure I did about a trillion chaines across the studio and all I need now is a bubble bath, my Anne of Green Gables novel and a good night sleep! Happy Monday!

things for spring

What I would like to wear this Spring...

Definitely something with a cute, Mulberry vibe. I'm thinking an Alexa-lookalike (because I can't afford the real thing), a full-skirted dress with voluptuous flair and a bright midi-skirt that slightly resembles Frida's. I'm also drawn to this Mulberry collection too (Resort 2012), I'm not entirely sure why, because all their collections are adorable. Maybe it's because of that metallic pink dress or those bright pumps that remind me of Louis Vuitton.
Street style is also a great way to find inspiration if you're not sure what you want to wear. I rely on Stockholm Street style daily to post up the cutest, (mostly) wearable outfits. Usually, models are caught off duty wearing some feature-worthy outfits. My favorite is Frida Gustavsson. She never fails to look stunning off and on the runway.
Back onto the sartorial side of things; I also want to wear a blouse over a skirt pulled together with a simple, skinny belt at the waist. Cute! Usually I steer clear of belts, but I think it's high time I gave them a go. The combination looks really effortless and chic and suits a lot of body shapes.
I also desperately want a pair of clogs. They are so cute and girly. Many wonderful bloggers I know have snapped them up, later posting about how comfy they are. Anyone have any fabulous brands to recommend?
p.s: You can still enter the giveaway here and I made a few changes to my blog, I was in need of something fresh and less 'pink', what do you think? Any suggestions? xx

the bold and beautiful

picnic at red flowered rock
Right now designers and clothing companies are going crazy with bold, bright hues. Elie Saab's gorgeous Resort 2012 collection had me dazed over the simply cut dresses in rich, vibrant tones. I love how fabulous the dresses are and that they barely need any accessories to complement them. While listening to Adele's addictive tunes, I made a red inspired Polyvore. I'm not a major red wearer, although I would wear this look as it features two of my favourite things; chiffon/ organza/ shear and floral. I also love those boots! They are pretty chunky and edgy but because of the light colours, they still have a girly feel to them.

Also, I recommend checking out Dotti's latest collection of bright clothing, inspired by Summer and the beach. Speaking of which, Spring and Summer are coming up and I'm beyond excited! I have to admit, Winter is becoming more and more tiresome in the mornings when waking up at first light is a necessity. I'm also running out of winter clothes! Spring and Summer mean: floral collections galore, prettier pastels and sun dresses. The latest issue of Teen Vogue was a perfect example of bright, attention seeking colours with the cover that squealed 'pick me up'! I love the latest issue, especially Taylor Swift's beautiful editorial featuring vintage clothing and romantic florals. The only thing that I can be critical about is the spread 'Blue Collar'. I really didn't think it was Teen Vogue worthy and I don't think any of the readers would be caught dead in any of the ensembles.
Well, before I ramble even further, I wanted to tell you about the progress of my floral overnight bag! I'm super duper happy about the choice of fabric (the old bed sheet) and it's going really well. I've cut out all the pieces and I'm ready to stitch them together. I can't wait until it's complete so I can display it in a post!

Have a marvellous week!
