After a little lie down with my swanky new 2014 diary today, I finally concocted a list of goals for my future. I am probably the most indecisive young woman I have ever known (I feel sorry for my future boyfriend.. he doesn't know what he'll start when he asks what restaurant we should go to for a date...), so naturally I was worried that I would never come to a conclusion about my future. I'm not just talking the next two years or so, but you know, my life. My career. So, it has officially been decided that I am going to study a Bachelor of Arts and major in Criminology (hopefully at UQ). Many of you have asked me if I'm still doing fashion... and to be honest, if I was offered a full-time blogging job like Nicole Warne, I wouldn't hesitate, but for now, blogging is a hobby that gives me joy, but probably not a future career. 

I'm still tossing up whether a gap year would be a good idea because I want to get started as soon as I can... travelling in between study and work. I'm really happy about coming to a decision though because now I can actually aim for specific results and start planning. The future is scary (but wonderful), so I want to make sure I'm really prepared. 

To be honest, I'm a very comfortable girl. I live in a small town, go to a small(ish) school, and I rarely go on holidays without my family with me, so moving away will be a big step and because I'm finishing school forever in less than a year, something I have to start considering. A big part of me wants to stay here: comfortable, sheltered and secure with everything set out, planned and in a familiar routine. Another part of me however is longing for adventure and a change of scenery. I want to experience really crazy stuff! I want to go exploring, I want to jump out of aeroplanes and get out of my comfort zone without clinging onto my imaginary security blanket and going back home at the end of the day because "I just couldn't handle it". I want to study abroad in the States and visit my long-lost family. I want to get out of here but I also want to stay. It's overwhelming and also amazing that instead of picking which uniform I'll be wearing on a certain day of the week, I'll be choosing what I will do for the rest of my life.

I think I'm prepared for it, but there's also that little nagging voice in the back of my head that always dreams up wild ideas but never actually gives me the courage I need to DO them. 

I honestly think 2014 will be my year though. It's the year I've kinda been waiting for... but I'm still hesitant for it to end. It's the start of a new beginning. And 2015, the year after, will be the year that I become an adult and I actually start living the life I've been planning.

Anyway, I think that's probably sufficient rambling for tonight. Hopefully I haven't confused ya'll with my nonsense! In the meantime, do you have any thoughts about the future? Was it scary moving away from home? Any tips or advice for a teenager who thinks way too far ahead?! Haha. I hope you all had a lovely weekend and as always, thank you for the continuous support. Hello everybody!! Oh my goodness, you have no idea how good it is to be back blogging again. I am on holidays for the next couple of weeks and have been loving every minute of it so far. Last week was so stressful and crazy but overall I am so proud of myself for pulling through and doing my best to dedicate even time to all of my subjects. I struggle with time management so I was really pleased with how well l I did this term - especially with History (my favourite subject).
The holidays have been very blissful thus far; I've been basking in the winter sun on outings with my family, making flower crowns, planning sleepovers with friends (expect a post with Lauren again soon!), painting my nails in all sorts of snazzy patterns, and not doing school work. It's marvellous!

Anyway, onto the outfit! I know that as a fashion blogger, usually you would post outfits that you've worn out before etc. but I think sometimes it can be a lot of fun to wear something slightly more impractical just because it creates a certain theme to your photos. I love this outfit so much - although I probably wouldn't wear it anywhere (unless it were a particular occasion), it's such a beautiful, classic combination. I'm so excited about how these photos turned out! They're so dreamy!

This charming headpiece came in the mail a few days ago from Lucy of Wolf Cub! It really is gorgeous and perfectly suited to my style! The roses aren't real but completely replicate real ones so it feels quite special wearing it. If you fancy a pretty head piece you should definitely take a squizz at her page; new stock has just been added!
Anyway, I'm off to go have a Downton Abbey marathon... it's become my new obsession! Have a marvellous day ♥

Lo and behold, my pretty flower birdsnest/ wreath! It's quite simple to make and is such a pretty accessory for wearing or hanging up in your room. I decided to hang mine up on a hook above my bed to catch my dreams. It's a slight variation of the feather dream catchers, I think. Anyway, it's been very quiet and relaxing this side of the world (well, for me anyway). The weather has been quite gloomy and rainy lately so it's been perfect for staying inside watching DVDs. Sipping chamomile tea while watching Bed of Roses is as good as it gets... As well as all that, I was interviewed by the sweet Alexandra! She is a wonderful girl with a darling blog! ♥

A small portion of the things I love at the moment

♥ Flower crowns. They've been popping up everywhere I look! I made a pink rose one today that I'm quite proud of (photos coming soon) and it was so simple. It's amazing what a beauty you can create with just wire, florist tape and artificial flowers. 

♥ Some of the pictures that have been popping up in my tumblr feed have been truly breath-taking. One of my favourites is the balcony picture with beautiful blossoms hanging over the edge. It looks so pretty.

♥ Fairy skirts! As soon as I saw this picture I fell in love. The fairy-like skirt is made practical with a belt a sweet blouse.

♥ Mary-Janes! Still quite desperate to get my hands on some of these beauties. I love the thick heel on these tan ones. They remind me of Carrie.

♥ Book stores. One day I simply must own one. 

♥ Sending and receiving mail. Isn't it just the most exciting feeling slipping that envelope or package into the box? I really, really love getting mail and writing letters.

I think this is the girliest outfit I've ever posted on this blog... or maybe the pinkest? The top I featured here was great for layering with this floral dress. Add a pretty necklace and it was perfect! It's still a little chilly here (despite the fact that Summer was meant to arrive 17 days ago). I'm not actually complaining though. I've been reading so much lately and I love it. This weather is ideal for snuggly days in bed with a cool breeze blowing through the window. Mum was wrapping presents in her room last night... it's making me even more excited for Christmas! Only 8 days to go! Hope you are all having a lovely weekend so far! ♥

Yesterday was the first day of Summer, however it feels more like a mild Autumn. Chilly winds, overcast days and the need for caramel lattes is a lovely change though. I love this weather, it feels more Christmas-y. I'm also excited about attempting cinnamon rolls for the first time these holidays. The Christmas tree is also looking beautiful, the stockings are up and I have started my Advent Calendar which is making me even more excited for December 25th!

I don't usually like this top, but I was 'outfit creating' yesterday afternoon and I liked the vintage effect the denim skirt, blouse and my Grandma's gold jewellery created. She gave me all these pretty earrings, bracelets and rings a little while ago and I love wearing them. I might gather them all up and do a little post about them, everything is so precious! Do you like the little button clip in my hair (below photo)?  It was in the button jar and I thought it would look cute as a clip. All you have to do is thread a bobby pin through the button hole and voilà! Happy Friday, I'm on holidays! ♥

 

spring ramblings

I love the lighting in these photos, yesterday was a really gorgeous day. Just warm enough to wear my pretty little sun-hat and just breezy enough to slip on this ruffled cardigan. The tree these photos were taken under is perfect for a picnic and an engaging novella. Sunday was spent dancing around the house for ballet practice that takes place tonight. I was really happy when our ballet teacher, Kate, told us we were dancing to a song from one of my favourite childhood movies, Anastasia. 'Once upon a December' is such a magical song, and it's definitely bewitched me, I can't stop dancing!

I've solved your swimsuit dilemma (well, if your a vintage loving, floral coveting, bikini wearer). Amourouse, a little etsy boutique with made-to-order lingerie and swimwear is selling these precious bikinis. Unlike any other I've seen (I'm so used to seeing skimpy little numbers in the swimwear stores!) and are at a very reasonable price for the cutest swimmers around. I fell head over heels for the green and floral ones, so pretty!
The passed for days have been very busy, on Saturday my sisters and Mum went to a local 'Swap Party'. We had to bring in old clothing, bric-a-brac, books etc. that would be exchanged for another person's unwanted items. It was wonderful, not only did I feel very environmentally friendly, but I scored half a wardrobe! I picked up some gorgeous things from Sportsgirl, Sass, Target etc and was so happy because it was all free! (Outfit post coming up soon)

my favourite summer dress

Happy Sunday, bloggers! I've been wanting to share with you my favorite summer dress for a while now. And, my crochet wedges that I love so much! Both go so well together. Anyway, I bought this dress in February at Valleygirl and it has been my favorite dress ever since! I feel so floaty and fairy-like because the chiffon is so light and cool. It's been perfect for the unpredictable weather lately. The last few days have been pretty crazy weather wise and I finally got a chance to take some outfit shots with the natural sunlight. Today was especially pretty!

What do you think of my Lizzie McGuire-esque platforms? I feel so tall and long-legged in them! The best part though; they are so comfy! What are your favorite seasonal outfit pieces?

Bergonia House, isn't it just beautiful?

I remember vaguely discovering Kelsey Genna's enchanting designs on a Spring-like day and wanting so badly to dance around like a crazy ballerina in the embellished tulle skirt. I discovered it again for the second time on Daydream Lily and I am in love all over again with the embellished tulle, flowery perspective and general beauty. Begonia House, her first collection was launched in March 2011 and all the gorgeous and exclusive clothes are up for sale in her precious boutique. My personal favorite outfit? Actually, I wouldn't mind having her entire store in my wardrobe, thank you.

Well, I haven't been a very consistent blogger lately and I'm sorry for that. I've been pretty busy lately. On Saturday I went on a desperately needed shopping trip and bought some essentials. I'm very pleased to say that I now have an adorable pair of cream wedges with crochet detailing. To tell you the truth though, I feel a bit like Lizzie McGuire in such platformed shoes. That was back in the day when you could get away with mixing leopard print and floral and platformed sandles were worn with calf length trousers. That makes me giggle!

I also went to see Monte Carlo yesterday. It was enjoyable and gave a morsel of hope to the girl who dreams of visiting the City of Love (or, lights?), finding love while there (with a Prince no doubt) and wearing Bvalgari jewels. All in one trip. The ideal girly film with a feel-good ending and predictable plot. Who can resist that?

things for spring

What I would like to wear this Spring...

Definitely something with a cute, Mulberry vibe. I'm thinking an Alexa-lookalike (because I can't afford the real thing), a full-skirted dress with voluptuous flair and a bright midi-skirt that slightly resembles Frida's. I'm also drawn to this Mulberry collection too (Resort 2012), I'm not entirely sure why, because all their collections are adorable. Maybe it's because of that metallic pink dress or those bright pumps that remind me of Louis Vuitton.
Street style is also a great way to find inspiration if you're not sure what you want to wear. I rely on Stockholm Street style daily to post up the cutest, (mostly) wearable outfits. Usually, models are caught off duty wearing some feature-worthy outfits. My favorite is Frida Gustavsson. She never fails to look stunning off and on the runway.
Back onto the sartorial side of things; I also want to wear a blouse over a skirt pulled together with a simple, skinny belt at the waist. Cute! Usually I steer clear of belts, but I think it's high time I gave them a go. The combination looks really effortless and chic and suits a lot of body shapes.
I also desperately want a pair of clogs. They are so cute and girly. Many wonderful bloggers I know have snapped them up, later posting about how comfy they are. Anyone have any fabulous brands to recommend?

colour magic; style rookie runway looks

So I was just browsing through a few background pictures on Polyvore (oh, what a surprise!) and came across this awesome editorial by none other than Teen Vogue. I adore the cover picture, somehow that grey sweat top sits so perfectly under the peachy maxi and the Mary-Jane platform heels fit like a dream on the quirky model (refer to polyvore collage). And I know, I've used this template on Polyvore before, but it's one of my favourites, it's fits with such a variety of themes. I love the collage, the denim crop jacket is just adorable over the skirt and has a total 'straight off the runway'  feel to it. The first image, featuring mix-matched florals is possibly my favourite. I love how well done the pattern matching is. Usually it can be quite risky to attempt to pair two or more patterns together, but the the styling is so perfect! And aren't those shoes amazing? The rest of the spread can be seen here.

Sorry for the initial absence! I've been suffering from a typical Winter illness and also I've also been lacking in blog post inspiration and didn't want to bore such fabulous readers as yourself! The start of this week wasn't too great and getting a cold and a stomach bug didn't make it any better. But lucky for me it was a short term sickness and I've come to the conclusion that lots of sunshine, bed rest and reading is the cure for everything. My exams went very well and I'm very happy with the results, thank-you for the fabulous wishes!

P.s: Get excited Australians! Spring is just around the corner...I can't wait to do some blog posts that are dripping in floral, I've been waiting so long!

Happy Friday! I am completely and utterly excited about the weekend. This week has been a complete drag and it's good to enjoy a two days of rest and relaxation. Although, I prefer to remain positive in my posts so I will point out the five highlights of my week; with the first highlight being the planning of a fabulous sleepover with Izzy Rose. Oreos, chai lattes, gossip and old Bring It On movies (that we can laugh at) are the perfect remedy to one of the worst weeks ever. Second highlight being that I'm super excited about the progress of my overnight bag, the floral is too pretty! Also, tomorrow I'm getting a lovely lamp to prop up on my bedside table for some late night reading adventures. Polyvore has officially become a new hobby also, I love how you can bring out the very best of your creativity in an awesome collage. This collage is inspired by the Elle Fanning picture for Lula magazine, the dreamy paged and whimsically worded publication for lovers of art, fashion and everything in between. 

Onto the collage featuring Chanel muse and actress, Clemence Posey. I stumbled across it accidentally while looking up images on Google. I love it, she looks very pretty in both pictures and the clothes inspired by her style are so feminine, especially the ruffled blouse.
