A small portion of the things I love at the moment

♥ Flower crowns. They've been popping up everywhere I look! I made a pink rose one today that I'm quite proud of (photos coming soon) and it was so simple. It's amazing what a beauty you can create with just wire, florist tape and artificial flowers.
♥ Some of the pictures that have been popping up in my tumblr feed have been truly breath-taking. One of my favourites is the balcony picture with beautiful blossoms hanging over the edge. It looks so pretty.
♥ Fairy skirts! As soon as I saw this picture I fell in love. The fairy-like skirt is made practical with a belt a sweet blouse.
♥ Mary-Janes! Still quite desperate to get my hands on some of these beauties. I love the thick heel on these tan ones. They remind me of Carrie.
♥ Book stores. One day I simply must own one.
♥ Sending and receiving mail. Isn't it just the most exciting feeling slipping that envelope or package into the box? I really, really love getting mail and writing letters.

Hope you're all having a great week so far!

latest discovery: the cherry blossom girl x etam

Thursday, December 29, 2011

I've only become closely familiar with the blog, The Cherry Blossom Girl just recently. I was mesmerised by the beautiful photography and creative stories behind each image. Alix has amazing talent and she is an absolute inspiration to anyone who wants to study creative photography and fashion design. Having worked as an intern for Alexander McQueen and the brand, Chloe, she has a lot of experience on-hand with fashion and is always displaying beautiful and well put together outfits.

I instantly fell in love with the feel of magic and femininity of her collection for Etam. It would be quite the understatement if I said I love it! Not only has she incorporated all my favourite things into each piece (and photo) but I can blissfully say that any girl would feel beautiful if she was wearing one of the pieces underneath her clothing. Lace, bows, glitter, pink, tulle and ruffles, the girliest lingerie dream.
I hope you all are having a nice week so far. Mine has just flown by. I had a little bit of a movie marathon yesterday... Becoming Jane and Jane Eyre were my favourites. I really like films from that era, the costumes are so beautiful and detailed and the romance is so dramatic. ♥

latest discovery: KLING

It's only been about 2 days since my last blog post, but it feels like an eternity. I've been slightly consumed by school work, but I'm happy to say that all my assessment is over for the year! Yippee! During the short visits to the computer, I have discovered some of the prettiest brands ever, including...
This particulate label is from Spain and is called KLING. It reminds me so much of MinkPink, but a little more expensive looking. I love the dreaminess and hazy feel of this particular editorial, Summer 2010.

crowns princesses

Discovering Crowns Clothing was like finding a long lost children's storybook. Memories instantly flooded back into my mind as I remembered how much I enjoyed reading (well, I guess I still do!) about the happy lives of the children who lived in cottages or castles, played in forests with fairies and {best of all} wore the simplest, but prettiest clothes ever. Crowns Clothing is an independent business based in Wellington, New Zealand created by a lady called Morgan. The newest collection (featured above, S/S 2012) is whimsical and feminine with a spoonful of playfulness too. The lighting of the photos is also very dreamy and simple. It seems as if you don't even need sunshine to lark about  in these clothes.

How cute are the hair accessories from Kani's etsy?

This is a very plain Polyvore I know, but I'm at loss for inspiration! Having to complete comprehension booklets, learn about different religions and study indices isn't exactly ideal for an aspiring fashion writer constantly on the hunt for inspiration. Oh well, the week is nearly over and I have an exciting girls-night-in to look forward to with Izzy! I'm talking Clueless, girly magazines like Teen Vogue and Seventeen, delicious food and the latest gossip.

As well as all that, I completed my purple dress in sewing class and it turned out very nice. However, I've decided to make the drastic choice of chopping off the top of it and altering it into a midi-skirt because the sleeveless design and low neckline are rather unflattering (I guess you could say the Polyvore is a few little things that would go nicely with the dress-about-to-be-turned-skirt). Wish me luck!

Hopefully an outfit post will be up on the weekend, all depending on the weather!

latest discovery: to be adored

Saturday, October 29, 2011

'Pretty as a picture' is the only way to describe TBA, (To be Adored) a delightful label created by a girl called
BinBin McNiven (how cool is that name?). With experience working alongside Alexander McQueen, Binbin, a Southern Chinese native, decided to create her own label inspired by the Edwardian era but with a mix of contemporary charm.
I instantly fell in love with the S/S collection, mainly because of the lace collars, detailed socks, sun hats and the general cuteness of the apparel. And, because the model and setting of the shoot is very whimsical and vintage and I love both those things.

Well, the weekend has started off very nicely, with my sister finally returning home for the next two days. With her she brought some Mimco treasures that instantly sparked my interest. Who doesn't get excited about a pretty headband with Swarovski crystals embellished into it?  (Details coming soon)
Have a good weekend!
